So, what waits beneath the Prius’ aerodynamic hood? A 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that pairs to a permanent magnet AC synchronous motor, expelling 194 net horsepower (HP) with front-wheel drive or up to 196 HP with all-wheel drive. When merging on a highway or passing on a 2-lane road, you’ll appreciate the responsiveness of this vehicle. Thanks to the electric motor, the Prius can go from 0 to 60 MPH in as little as seven seconds.

As mentioned, the Prius comes standard with front-wheel drive (FWD) to help you get as many miles as possible from this Toyota. However, if you’re looking for added smoothness and grip as you drive, electronic on-demand all-wheel drive (eAWD) is available. When equipped, this intelligent system can automatically redirect power between all four wheels to minimize wheel spin on low-friction surfaces. To help optimize efficiency, eAWD models switch back to FWD during optimal road conditions.
